Breaking the speed limit, or driving too fast for the conditions of the road, contributes to more than 700 deaths and 4,500 injuries every year
In recent years, going over the speed limit was reported as a factor in 13% of fatal accidents. And exceeding the speed limit or going too fast for the conditions was reported as a factor in 25% of fatal accidents.
If you hit a child at 30mph they have an 80% chance of living. If you hit them at 40mph they have an 90% chance of dying.

As a driver keep to the speed limit and slow down. As a pedestrian only cross when you have time to get across safely.
Be aware of the speed limits at all times and don’t drive too fast for the conditions. Remember, if there are street lights, the speed limit is 30mph unless otherwise shown.
Remember: speed limits are there for a reason and applicable at all times!
