Teenagers on Bikes
The Facts

- Wearing a cycle helmet can improve your chances of survival, and reduce the chance of serious injury.
Survival Skills
- Avoid distractions – don't listen to music or use a mobile phone when you're cycling, if you need to talk, take a break! Be aware of what is going on around you, because other road users may not be aware of you.
- Wear a helmet – half of all injuries to cyclists are to the head and face.
- Wear light coloured clothing – fluorescent by day and reflective by night is best.
- Ensure your bike has reflectors and you have working lights.
- Get properly trained. Training courses are available to help you develop the skills to stay safe.
